OAKLAND – David West finally talked about his cyst on Friday, but he didn’t say much.
“It was just an infection,” West said. “We got it taken care of.”
West has been sidelined the last five games because of a cyst on his right arm. He saw a dermatologist in the Bay Area on Sunday and will play Friday against the Sacramento Kings.
He spoke to reporters about the ailment Friday morning after shootaround, but was pretty tight-lipped about what he went through.
When asked how it happened, he responded, “Just going to play, man. Just ready to play.”
West, 37, is averaging 7.1 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 13.6 minutes a game. He’s shooting a career-best 60.8 percent from the field this season.
“It was just something that popped up and just wore me down,” West said. “We just got it taken care of, so I’m good.”
Getting West back is a nice bonus for the Warriors, who will be down three All-Stars against the Kings. Stephen Curry (tweaked right ankle), Klay Thompson (fractured right thumb) and Kevin Durant (sore ribs) are all out.
The good news is that Draymond Green, who missed Wednesday’s game against the Los Angeles Lakers because of right shoulder soreness, will play against the Kings.
So at least the Warriors will have one All-Star on the court. It’s a problem many teams wish they had.
