A man was sent to the hospital with critical burns on Thursday after a mobile home caught fire and exploded at the Cypress Mobile Home Park.

A dash cam video of the rescue shows the man being rushed from the unit about five seconds before an explosion shoots flames from the mobile home.

The Orange County Fire Authority responded to a call at the park on Lincoln Avenue about 3 p.m. and found a mobile home ablaze, Captain Larry Kurtz of the OCFA said.

Two responding officers from the Cypress Police Department rushed a man in his 50s away from the fire, but he was already critically burned.

The fire had a risk of spreading to adjacent mobile homes, Kurtz said, but was contained because of the efforts of 34 OCFA firefighters. The fire took about 20 minutes to extinguish, he said.

The burned man was not a resident of the unit that burned, and it’s not known if he lived in one of the other units, Kurtz said.

He was sent to the UCI Medical Center’s burn center and is being questioned in the OCFA’s investigation, according to Kurtz.

The cause of the blaze is still unknown.
