SAN JOSE — On the eve of her team’s playoff opener, Archbishop Mitty junior Haley Jones received her league’s top individual honor.
The West Catholic Athletic League announced Thursday that Jones is its girls basketball player of the year.
The five-star player — who has received interested from top college programs, including Connecticut — averaged 21.3 points and 9.5 rebounds per game while leading national No. 1 Mitty to an undefeated regular season.
The Monarchs open the Central Coast Section Open Division playoffs Friday against St. Francis at Christopher High in Gilroy.
Jones was joined on the all-WCAL team by four teammates.
